rites of passage tattoo awards 2012..
For those of you who attended Rites of Passage 2011 you would of seen our amazing tattoo awards which were individual bronze sculptures each hand crafted and made by the infamous Brett Williams.
To have anyone else make the 2012 awards would have been alot to live up to with the quality and unique nature of the 2011 editions, so Brett has confirmed that he will be making the awards for us again. He tells us that they will be very different to the 2011 awards, still bronze but with a different twist and they will be displayed at the tattoo convention and given to the winning artists each evening of the Rites of Passage Tattoo convention award ceremonies. Just to confirm the Tattoo artist gets the award and the person with the winning tattoo gets a bundle of Rites of Passage merch.
Brett will also be working at the tattoo convention this year where you too can mould anything you like and have it made into bronze. The process involves making a jelly mould, which is then filled with plaster of paris, and then a 4 week process is undertaken to make it into a bronze sculpture. These 3 dimensional sculptures can be permanant representations of any part of your body and they only take you 30 seconds to make and can be done there and then at the tattoo convention. Get creative and express yourself through three dimensional fine art.
